'Hala, parang nanay na' Binibining Pilipinas Candidate Was 'Downed By People' But She Rose Back Up Newly Improved

On March 18, 2018 the grand coronation for Binibining Pilipinas 2018 will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and as of now one particular candidate captured the attention of many people.

Rosantonette Mendoza is candidate number 18 and she shared her inspirational adventure that gave courage and strength to many readers. Her post earned 11k shares, 5.5k comments, and 37k reactions.

Miss Mendoxa started joining beauty pageants since she was 15 years old and the first title she had was Mutya ng Bacoor in 2007.

When she graduated at the Lyceum of hte Philippines University in 2012, she joined another provincial pageant the following year but this time she experienced bad things which almost ruined her and made her stop aiming for the crown.

According to Miss Mendoza, "Then came my worst nightmare - I was bashed in social media because I was too “FAT” to be a beauty queen. Comments like, “hala, parang nanay na” “ano ba yan, bat may naligaw jan” and the likes. I have to admit, it almost ruined me."

"I fell in love with food so much, you have no idea. Desserts - I love chocolates! I ate whatever I wanted. As in no control at all."

But this habit of her comes with a risk. She is becoming unhealthy day by day and she also said that "I was almost 90 kgs. I knew I lost it."

When the Miss Universe 2016 pageant occured in the Philippines, Miss Miss Universe Canada 2016 Siera Bearchell caught Rosantonette's attention.

Miss Siera is confident with her body and she often post on social media calling out al lthose body shamers and promoting once self-confidence.

Miss Siera inspired Mendoza thats when she decided that "It's not over. Not yet." and give a shot on Binibining Pilipinas.

Miss Mendoza did fitness routine/exercises to get back on track and her effort paid off.

Miss Universe Canada posted on March 8 her thoughts, "AMAZING! Rosantonette Mendoza messaged me when she decided to compete at Bb. Pilipinas (Official) NOW LOOK AT HER!!!"

"She was body shamed in her younger pageant days and gave up pageantry and lost her self-esteem and self-confidence."

"She saw me at Miss Universe in the Philippines and was encouraged to give a pageant one last shot!! THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY! I am emotional because this is an example of how women encouraging women is SO POWERFUL!!!! #internationalwomensday"
