Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an executive order banning smoking in public spaces nationwide and public utility vehicles.
The order imposes fines of up to P10,000 for violation of the smoking ban in public places as prescribed in section 32 of the Tabacco Regulation Act.
₱500 – ₱1,000 for first offense
₱1,000 – ₱5,000 second offense
Recently, a Facebook user named Steph Sorongon shared a video of a man who got a chained and arrested by local authorities after he was caught smoking in the public.
