The "Shape of You" and "Perfect" singer Ed Sheeran announces to the world he's finally engaged to his longtime (High School love) girlfriend Cheery Seaborn after secretly proposing last year.
Ed Sheeran announced the news on Instagram Saturday, sharing a photo of him with his fiance Cherry Seaborn.
"Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well," he wrote in the photo's caption.
According to a source, Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn, met in high school in their native U.K. and have been dating for about three years.
She then left the UK to study at Duke University in North Carolina, where she also played hockey. She later helped England's U21 team win a bronze medal at the 2012 European Championships, according to the BBC.
The couple embarked on a long-distance relationship in mid-2015.
In December 2016 it was revealed she had moved back to the UK to be with him as the relationship became more serious.
At the end of last year, Ed revealed he would like to marry her and confessed he would "love" to start a family with her.

Interestingly enough, Seaborn also serves as the inspiration behind Ed Sheeran's popular hit song, "Perfect," which is Number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
