This OFW Received Recognition After Saving A Saudi National Trapped In High Flood

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia called David Balendo rescued a senior Saudi nationwide stranded in his cars and truck engulfed in high flood. He has ended up being a hero on social media after a video clip of him went viral.

David was among the onlookers as the senior male was waiting to be saved by Civil Defense policeman. When he noticed the reluctant rescuers, he volunteered to swim in the murky waters and assisted the guy out of the auto. David then brought trapped male to safety and security.

"I was not scared," the expatriate stated in broken Arabic.

I can not stand seeing a guy facing imminent danger as well as not do anything regarding it. I understood I had to leap as well as brave the floods in order to conserve 'Baba' [the affectionate word to describe a senior man]," David claimed.

When I first wanted to swim, some people around me told me not to do it, explaining that the Civil Defense would rescue him. But I was concerned Baba would be killed if the rescue operation was late,” he said.

David received formal recognition for his heroism after a video of him saving a Saudi national trapped in high flood went viral.

At the same time, netizens questioned why the rescuers failed to save the male themselves. In response, the Interior Minister has actually bought an investigation.
