“Kahit Piso Lang Po!” This Street Child Asks the Students to Step on the Rock in a Footbridge! the Reason Behind Will Inspire You!

If you frequent the streets of Metro Manila, then you’ll surely be able to see a handful of street children roaming around and asking for spare change from the people passing by. Unfortunately, there are some street children who harass innocent people just to get what they want. In the past, reports about “rugby boys” and “batang hamog” have been over the news. These media images gave most people the impression that these kids should not be trusted and have to be avoided at all times.

However, there are some street kids who are really just making a living for themselves without having to swindle other people. This one street child went viral recently when he asked a bunch of students to step on a rock.

According to the Facebook post of netizen Michael Alfie D. Torno, he and his classmates were crossing the Tandang Sora footbridge on a rainy day. Because of this, some parts of the bridge were flooded by water making it difficult for them to cross.

Suddenly, a young boy approached them and asked them to step on the rock. The child said, “Ate’t kuya, sa bato po kayo dumaan, para hindi po masira yung mga sapatos nyo.”

Michael and his friends then noticed the coins by the boy’s feet which made them realize that he was charging people to cross the rock. They thought twice about crossing since they didn’t want to pay for such a simple service. The boy then heard this and told them that it’s ok even if they give him just one peso for all six of them to cross.

Michael thought this was such a good deed. What made him even more impressed is the fact that the boy had a huge smile on his face while he was telling them that he only charges at least one peso for six people.

As of writing, the post has already garnered 2.4K comments and more than 6,000 shares on Facebook.
