According to the restoration chair of the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy, Lance Humphries, the workers were digging a hole for a septic tank when they encountered a cornerstone that contains time capsules that are stuffed with newspapers.

Experts are now working to extract the contents of the time capsule the construction workers found.
This is the second time capsule that workers found during the renovations that occurred on the monument.
