Here are the top 5 most expensive fruit in the world. Let's find out why.
Roman Ruby grapes
Ruby Roman is a variety of table grape grown and marketed entirely in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. It is red in color and about the size of a ping-pong ball. The first Ruby Roman grapes went on sale in August 2008 for 100,000 Japanese yen (US$910) per 700-gram bunch or $26 per grape. They are said to be the most expensive variety of grapes. Yubari Melon
The Yubari King is a cantaloupe cultivar farmed in greenhouses in Yūbari, Hokkaido, a small town close to Sapporo.

Some Japanese people present Yubari King melons as gifts during Chūgen. A top-grade melon is to be perfectly round and have an exceptionally smooth rind. A portion of the stem, which is snipped with scissors, is left on top for aesthetic appeal.
At a Japanese auction in 2008, two Yubari King melons sold together for ¥2.5 million. In 2016, a supermarket in Amagasaki bought a pair of Yubari King melons at auction with a winning bid of ¥3 million.
Pineapple from Cornwall, England
It is not just Japan that produces ultra-expensive fruit.
The most expensive pineapple in the world is grown in the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall, England. The seemingly ordinary fruit is set apart by the method by which it is grown. To recreate the tropical climate usually required for pineapples, growers at this plantation make use of a technique dating back to the Victorian ages. The horticulturalists grew the crops in greenhouses heated with horse manure and straw and cultivated the fruit over two years.
The pineapple is valued at around £10,000 (S$21,389).
