The dog is an elderly boxer and Cara's father believe that the dog had been purposely left to starve down there because there are rocks and wooden pallets are placed over the hole to prevent the dog from escaping or for stopping anyone who wants to see underneath.
Cara's father told Belfast Telegraph "Cara came home and said a pup had fallen down a manhole, but when I went with her back to where the dog was I could see that wasn’t the case at all."
Mr. Bideau managed to get the dog out of the concrete hole and discovered something more dreadful than the situation.

The dog's ribs were sticking out and they discovered that the dog is also blind it clearly shows that the dog has been discarded there and left to starve.
