How Did This 23-Year-Old Become A Father And A Grandfather On the Same Day? - Boy Trending

Every once in a while we read a story that touches our hearts and restores our faith in the world, and this beautiful story of a youngster who put his life on hold so that he could save two vulnerable lives is definitely one of those.

Tommy Connolly was a regular college student. He had a part-time job, studied hard, hung out with friends, and when he was in class, he was training to be a champion sprinter, but one day the youngster received a Facebook message that completely changed his life forever.

The message was sent by Tommy’s 17-year-old cousin. The two hadn’t seen one another for years, and since their last meeting it’s fair to say her life was in a downward spiral. After battling addiction and dropping out of high school, the teen ended up pregnant, homeless and without a family.

In a leap of faith, she reached out to Tommy and it’s a good job she did. The student didn’t even think twice. Without his cousin even asking, he picked up his heavily expectant cousin and moved her into her apartment. Within no time Connolly legally adopted her. Just a week later, the teen gave birth to a son. While she stayed in the hospital recovering from child birth, Tommy, who cut the baby’s umbilical chord, worked on all of his school assignments in the waiting room.

Now, as well as studying for his college degree, Tommy now works full-time to support his new family, and he does so with a smile on his face. “It’s not her fault,” he said of his cousin. “She’s just a little girl who needed help,” he told the Daily Mail.

“This was her only option. She’s spent more time on the streets than anywhere else, and knows the police better than she knows her own family,” the wrote on his Facebook page, sharing his story. “She could write the book on traumatic experiences. Not many people know her story. It’s very intense. Nobody deserves the life she’s had.”

News of the Australian youngster’s generosity has spread across the globe, but he remains completely humble and reckons he doesn’t deserve all of the publicity has beautiful act has earned him. “I know what I’ve done is a really good thing, but I feel guilty I’m getting all this attention,” he told wrote on his Facebook page.

And Tommy certainly doesn’t consider himself a hero; though hopes his story will inspire others to be just as caring. “If it’s one or two years of my life that I have to put on hold, to make sure two lives are going to be saved, it’s nothing at all,” he explained.
